With the start of a new year, I decided to restart my photography journey after a long hybernation. So I took on the challenge of improving my skills over the coming year with 52 challenges. Each week is designed to challenge another aspect in photography and artistic style. Ideally it should enable to me to either find my creative voice and or extend my artistic horizon. And this blog is my excuse to document all steps forward, backwards and sideways. So let’s get to it!
A long time ago…
I decided to buy an actual camera and start to dedicate some time to photography. That was 2018. By 2019 I bought my very DSLR camera, a Nikon D5600 with a kit lense. Back then a very big deal for me. I kept this camera for quite some time until I upgraded in 2020 to a Nikon Z6. I tried different styles and approaches. Landscape, Macro and portrait as the main ones. There were some occasional „adventures“ into other genres, but nothing serious. With some effort and dedication I could produce some landscape and portrait shots, I’m very proud of.
Then some things changed in my personal life; the family, a new house, a dog and a new job consumed most of my time and energy. Photography was nothing I did enjoy anymore. However, that’s kind of the beauty of the hobby as well; I could pack all my camera gear into a corner for years and just get it back out, when I felt like it. However, now that I still don’t have more time, but way more motivation, I want to pick up this hobby again and improve. So here is to some epic shots to come.
